Jenny Beer

Jenny is the Managing Director of Drum Works, a social enterprise based in east London. Working with around 500 young people every week, Drum Works uses drumming as a tool to inspire creativity, build social cohesion and empower young people to direct their own futures. Originally a Barbican project, Jenny led on the process of spinning Drum Works out, establishing it as an independent Community Interest Company and the Barbican’s first ever spin-out organisation in 2016. Jenny has facilitated many high-profile projects with Drum Works, with collaborators including the Barbican Centre, Greek National Opera and the BBC. Prior to this, Jenny was a member of the Barbican Centre’s Creative Learning team, working across music and film projects with international partners including the LA Phil, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and the British Film Institute. Before joining Creative Learning, she previously held project management and fundraising roles at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the London Symphony Orchestra and City of London Sinfonia. She has a music degree from King’s College London.
