Roll Call is the MetamorPhonics band in Leicester
Roll Call was set up in April 2019 and is delivered in partnership with De Montford University, The Philharmonia Orchestra and Dear Albert, Sound Cafe and the Centre Project, which all are organisations in Leicester, which support people in recovery from substance abuse or have experience of homelessness. The band are blessed with a fantastic range of skilled musicians, as well as people who have not had much experience of music making, but make up for that with wonderful lyric writing and a keen interest to learn and develop their musical skills. Students and music scholars from De Montford University are members of the group and support the delivery of the band. Roll call prefer to meet in person, but were the first MetamorPhonics band to make a success of an online composition project in September 2020. This project also marked the beginning of our collaborative relationship with the Philharmonia Orchestra, who provided us with three wonderful string players to join in with our collaborative composition process. Roll Call meet 2-3 times each year to write new music and perform. To hear a sample of the group's work, please click on the link.
